For the second year running, a female BatPak player topped the stats and won an award in a European competition. Following Elaine Kiely's Best Female Batter Award at last year's ECCS in Slovenia, Emma headed the list of all female players from the six participating nations through a combination of a strong hitting performance and excellent cover in the Irish outfield.
It was a bittersweet moment for Emma, as Team Ireland had earlier failed to reach the Final of the tournament for the second successive time, losing out to the old enemy Great Britain in the semi-final (15-7). Team Ireland Captain, BatPak Short-Stop Jon Barry told us of the proud moment that Emma's name was announced "I was already pretty emotional after picking up the Bronze medal with the rest of the team, and the tears started again when Emma went up to collect her award".
BatPak were without Emma for Tuesday night's game against Marlay Mavericks, she is taking a well earned rest in the West of Ireland. But we did get to speak to her and she told us her thoughts of receiving the award "I was dead chuffed I really enjoyed the week and just hit the ball as hard as I could. [However] I'd swap it for a team gold in a second though".
Well whether Gold, Silver or Bronze Emma, we're all very proud of you here at BatPak HQ. Congratulations on your performance!
