BatPak 3 - 1 Marlay Martyrs

"Let's never speak of this again." Former captain Ben Emerson words rang round a solomn St Anne’s Park following this ‘humdinger’ of a game between BatPak & Marlay.  The game lasted 58 minutes, with two teams, hence the 116 words in the following match report.

BatPak had six hits, Marlay had five.  BatPak started well with two runs in the first inning.  Jon Barry’s fly-ball straight into a sports bag scored the first, Emma Mullen’s sac-fly to right-field the second.  Marlay scored their only run in the fourth inning, Adrian and Colum the only Martyrs hitting successfully.  Barry’s (pitcher) double-play catch, turn and quick throw to first was the play of the game.  Conor and Austin came a close second with a 1-6-3 out from Drew Hennessy.  Hits from Peter Mullen, Elaine Kiely and Barry (not into a bag however) in the sixth ensured one more run.  BatPak’s defense was solid throughout the game and remained so to end the game.
